Would you like to join the Killarney Advertiser Sport team?
We are currently looking for a female sports columnist to complement our existing sports section. The role would be flexible but it would involve writing one article - preferably an opinion piece - on a fortnightly basis at first.
Being a current or former player from any sport would be an advantage, as would being based in the Killarney/Kerry area.
“We’re constantly exploring ways of improving our sports section and we believe that adding a female voice would be a really positive move,” said Killarney Advertiser sports editor Adam Moynihan.
“We have a small team of sports contributors at the moment and, as is often the case in the world of sports media, it is currently male-dominated. It’s important to be as diverse as possible and if we can find the right candidate to come in and add to what we’re already doing, it can only be a good thing.
“Women’s sport is finally beginning to get the respect and coverage it deserves. It would be great to be able to give a local sportswoman the platform to share her opinions on whatever stories she is passionate about.”
If you have an interest in writing/media work and you think you fit the bill, contact Adam via sport@killarneyadvertiser.ie for more information.
No experience necessary - you will get plenty of assistance along the way.
