Water pipe replacement works set to benefit over 2,500 Mid Kerry homes

W
WORKS have begun on water pipe replacement works which should benefit over 2,500 homes in the Mid Kerry area.
The total funding allocated for the project, from Barleymount to Flynn’s Forget, amounts to €390,000 (€300,000 from Flynn’s Forge to Aglish and €90,000 from Coolroe cross towards Barleymount) for mains pipe replacement and road reinstatement.
Welcoming the works, Killarney mayor Councillor Brendan Cronin said: “I am delighted to confirm that these long-overdue major water pipe replacement works have begun.”
These improvement works should benefit over 2,500 homes in the Mid Kerry district from Aghadoe to Rockfield and from Milltown/Listry to Ballyhar including all townlands within this area, noted the Ballyhar councillor.
“Residents in this area have suffered for years with continuous water breaks and I am delighted to have been able to secure and deliver this funding as the pipe network in Mid Kerry is appalling for 21st century Ireland,” added Cllr Cronin.
