Warning about mobile phone scam and Wi-Fi hacking

G
GARDAÍ in Kerry are warning the public of a mobile phone scam involving calls from an international number with the prefix 0025 44.
They last issued a warning about calls from this number on June 14, when they highlighted how people were receiving a muffled call from the number from an apparently distressed woman looking for help.
If you call this number back, you will be charged. “It is a scam and will clear your credit if you ring it back,” said a spokesperson.
Now the community has been alerted to the fact that the number is active again and caution is urged with Gardaí stressing that you should not ring back.
In addition the alarm has been raised about how Gmail accounts are being hacked in public Wi-Fi areas.
