WAIST DEEP IN GLENFLESK
KC Print's Creative Director and sometimes 'Killarney Advertiser's Roaming Weather Forecaster' Damien Switzer reporting live and waist deep from 'Lake Glenflesk'.
Damien asked: 'Ever wonder where the water for Killarney's Lakes come from?... answer: Glenflesk! When the water rises and spills over the ditches your heart sinks (no pun intended). We slowly become and island.
It's flooded three times in the past two months' only three or four feet but enough to close the roads and leave residents stranded. A concerned friend asked me do you keep wellies in car, I replied 'more like chest waders and a life jacket'. We just never know when the conditions will turn for the worst and yes each time we worry about being flooded again.
A solution? the rivers need to be cleared all the way to lake and beyond. The Healy Raes and Kerry County Council Engineers are looking at situation and fairness are trying to come up with a solution.... hope it comes soon for my little island in Glenflesk'.
