Due to storm Jorge this weekend the planned planting of snowdrops in memory of Archdeacon Fr Michael Murphy, tomorrow morning (Saturday) on Mission Road, has now been postponed until Saturday, March 7.
It is a once in four year opportunity to mark this day and volunteers don't have to stay for the entire session.
"It is the committee’s intention the planting will improve biodiversity while also bringing people together, getting some gentle exercise and fresh air,” Eileen O'Donoghue, Killarney Municipal Officer, said.
“We have an amazing National Park on our doorstep and this is a great opportunity for people to come together and enhance the link between the town and the park. You don't need to be an expert gardener as no experience necessary and all equipment will be provided."
Remember, even an hour's planting will leave a lasting legacy for the whole community to enjoy, she added.
The event by Killarney Looking Good Committee is supported by South Kerry Development Partnership, Kerry County Council and Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce.
