Killarney Gardaí are investigating two separate serious assaults that took place in the town in recent weeks.
The first one, an alleged sexual assault, took place a few weeks ago but was only reported on Friday last.
The alleged attack took place in the grounds of the Church of the Resurrection on Park Road.
“It was only reported a week later after the victim attended a sexual assault treatment unit,” Superintendent Flor Murphy told the Killarney Advertiser. “We sealed off the area and the scene was examined.”
In the early hours of last Thursday morning a rough-sleeper was assaulted on Mission Road.
The man suffered a broken nose in what Superintendent Murphy said was “an unprovoked attack”.
