Emergency services were alerted at around 2.15pm today and quickly raced to the site of what has been described as a freak accident. The jarvey was not seriously injured.
It’s believed that the horse pulling the cart may have bolted having been startled by something. It has also been reported that the jaunting car subsequently struck a bridge and flipped onto the parapet, throwing the occupants from the vehicle.
The road near Kate Kearney’s Cottage has been closed by gardaí who are currently working on the scene.
