Gaelscoil Faithleann pupils reach Belfast final

Three pupils from Gaelscoil Faithleann are heading to Belfast this weekend to represent Kerry in the All-Ireland Final of the Comhrá Gaeilge competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

The journey began back in March, when extra practice sessions got underway for approximately 30 students preparing for Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí in Cahersiveen at the end of May.
The school enjoyed great success at the county level, with eight pupils qualifying for the Munster Fleadh in Lismore on Friday, July 17. Following another strong performance in Waterford, an outstanding three pupils, Aideen, Brynn, and Josie, progressed to the All-Ireland Final in Belfast.
The competition offers young speakers a valuable platform to build confidence in spoken Irish, operating in a similar style to the Leaving Certificate oral examination. The well-known saying, “Beatha teanga í a labhairt” (“The life of a language is in speaking it”), perfectly reflects the spirit of their achievement.
Principal Lisa Ní Iarlaithe said that the entire school community is behind the three finalists and is immensely proud of their remarkable success. Reaching the All-Ireland Final is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and love of the Irish language, and everyone at Gaelscoil Faithleann wishes Aideen, Brynn, and Josie the very best of luck in Belfast.

Changes for TFI Anseo bus service from August 10

Major but positive changes are coming to the TFI Anseo bus service in Killarney starting Monday, August 10.

From that date, passengers using the app to book journeys will be directed to nearby shared pick-up and drop-off points rather than door-to-door stops. Over 210 designated locations have been established across the zone.
This next phase of the pilot aims to bring the service closer to a conventional bus model while preserving its flexibility and convenience. The update is designed to boost operational efficiency, lower waiting and travel times, and allow vehicles to handle more bookings daily.
The adjustment follows remarkable success for the Killarney service, which has surpassed 86,000 passenger journeys. Due to this strong demand and its role in boosting local connectivity, the TFI Anseo pilot period has been official extended.
Passengers will still input their desired origin and destination into the app, which will then direct them to the nearest shared location for boarding and alighting.
Information leaflets are being distributed on buses starting this week, alongside in-app notifications and support from the call centre team. Further details are available at nationaltransport.ie and
