Temporary parking proposal at Deerpark

At a recent meeting of Killarney Municipal District, councillor Martin Grady called for the temporary use of vacant land near Deerpark Playground and Irish School as a parking area to alleviate the town's chronic parking shortage.
Grady told the meeting that ongoing lack of parking options in Killarney, particularly during peak season were a major concern. While a multi-storey car park is planned for the future, its construction is expected to take time.
"We saw drawings and plans of a multi-storey car park," Grady said.
"Yet we are facing into another summer without an extra parking space. There's various lands within the town that could provide the people with additional parking while we wait for the multi-storey to come to fruition. This will also help the traffic situation as motorists circle the town seeking a parking space."
The councillor proposed utilising vacant land near the Deerpark Playground and the Irish School as a temporary parking solution until the multi-storey car park is completed.
In response, a council official replied that the Killarney Municipal District Office will investigate the feasibility of the proposal.
