Street mural artist publishes book
The artist responsible for some of the many town centre murals has published a book on her experiences.
Edel Tobin founder of many social enterprises including ‘Waterford Walls’ and ‘Street Art Ink’ has released her self-published ‘Not Just a Brick in the Wall.’
Edel tells the incredible story of how an idea to hide derelict buildings transformed Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city into the largest outdoor art gallery in the world.
During her tenure as Artistic Director, Edel oversaw 70 artists producing over 250 large scale art murals in eight years.
“Edel has created such a major impact on the city and its sense of place which will have a long-term impact on the attractiveness of the city as a place to invest, visit, work and live,” said the ex-President of Waterford Institute of Technology, Professor Willie Donnelly
Edel Tobin is a schoolteacher and native of Waterford City and has had the honour of showcasing her social enterprises in Waterford City to President Michael D. Higgins and King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Edel’s book can be purchased from her website www.streetartink.ie/shop
