Steam train makes tracks back in time

T
TRAINSPOTTERS of all ages were out in force last Saturday as Killarney Railway Station rolled back the years to host a steam train.
The Emerald Isle Explorer made tracks for Killarney in the morning and remained in the railway station for several hours where it proved a huge attraction, before departing for Cork that evening.
The Emerald Isle Explorer from Steam Dreams first embarked on a seven-day circuit of Ireland this time last year and the tour was billed as the longest of its kind "in the modern age".
Locomotives and coaches owned by the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (RPSI) are used throughout the tour.
This year’s nine-day tour commenced on Wednesday, June 15, as the Emerald Isle Explorer started its voyage from London to Ireland.
The train from London was hauled by the world-famous Flying Scotsman engine to Holyhead. During their visit to Ireland passengers have stopped in Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Killarney, Sligo, Dublin, Derry and Belfast.
The Emerald Isle Explorer visited Killarney last Saturday.
