The incredibly brave local man who was paralysed from the shoulders down in August last year is to benefit from a special summer BBQ on the June bank holiday Monday.
Sixteen year old St Brendan’s College student Ian O’Connell has spent the last nine months in hospital working on his ongoing rehabilitation attempts.
Unfortunately, his family face a big challenge to get their new house adapted to suit Ian’s needs, they are also hoping, as Ian mentioned on the Late Late Show interview with Ryan Tubridy, to buy a new car which will to enable him to be transported in the future.
This BBQ will help raise funds for Ian will take place in Scott’s Courtyard on the June bank holiday Monday from 2pm - 6pm.
Organisers are hoping for a big turnout for this very worthy cause and are promising a great family day out complete with food, dancing and live music from the Glenflesk legend Derry Healy.
Entry to the event will be free and the cost of thebbqis just €10 per person with all proceeds going to the Ian O’Connell Trust Fund.
