Spa GAA club members enjoy ‘staycation’ in National Park
The women and girls from Spa GAA club took the term ‘staycation’ to a new extreme by having their annual outing in Killarney National Park.
The Under 8 and Under 12 girls teams’ day out started with a boat trip on the lakes followed by a walk and a picnic in the National Park.
“Thanks to all the coaches especially Johnny Brosnan who organised this event. By all accounts everyone had a great time. Well done to all involved,” said Spa GAA club’s PRO Deirdre O’Sullivan Darcy.
The Under 16 team, led by coaches Susan Waters along with Claire Tangney set off from Ross Castle by boat to Lord Brandon’s Cottage. This was followed by a 14km hike back to Ross Castle via the Old Kenmare Road and Torc Waterfall.
“They thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful boat trip up through the lakes, getting all the local history from boatman Donal Jnr of Gap of Dunloe Traditional Boat Tours,” added Deirdre. “It was a great day and Susan was so proud of how the girls represented Spa Club on the day.”
