Preparations are already underway for this year's South Kerry Jobs Fair, which is scheduled to take place on February 13 at the Great Southern Hotel in Killarney.

The event promises to feature a diverse range of job opportunities, as well as valuable workshops covering topics such as CV tailoring, upskilling, and interview techniques.
The South Kerry Jobs Fair has consistently proven successful, attracting both job seekers and employers in significant numbers.
Last year, over 1,500 people attended, and this year, the event is expected to attract companies from a broad range of sectors including hospitality, healthcare, engineering, education, and finance.
The event is organised by South Kerry Development Partnership CLG.
Joanne Griffin, SKDP's Enterprise Officer said: "The success of the past two years is a testament to the high demand for skilled workers in the region."
"In addition to the companies offering employment opportunities, there are also a range of other service and education providers who can offer valuable opportunities to those attending," she added.
Griffin highlighted the popularity of the advice workshops, which provide job seekers with up-to-date information and guidance to improve their job search prospects.
SKDP CEO Noel Spillane emphasized the event's significance for both job seekers and employers.
"The Jobs Fair provides an ideal platform for job seekers to engage with a wide array of employers and for businesses to showcase their vacancies to a large pool of potential employees," said Spillane.
He noted that many businesses in the region are currently facing recruitment challenges and that the Jobs Fair offers a valuable opportunity to connect with potential employees and fill open positions.
The event will be open to the public from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, with no prior registration required for job seekers. Workshops will run concurrently throughout the event, commencing at 10:45 am. Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their CVs to the event.

The Kerry Education and Training Board (Kerry ETB) has been awarded €2.3 million in funding to purchase the former Pretty Polly site on Upper Park Road, Killarney.

The funding, announced this morning by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, will allow Kerry ETB to develop the site as a new Tourism Sector Training College. The proposed facility will focus on training for the hospitality and tourism industries.
Kerry TD Michael Cahill described the announcement as “a major vote of confidence in Killarney and the wider Kerry tourism industry.”
“This is immense news for the town,” said Deputy Cahill. “It will mark Killarney out officially as the tourism capital of Ireland by providing a Hospitality Sector Training College right in the heart of the county.”
Deputy Cahill said he had been advocating for such a development since entering the Dáil, adding that the investment “will be a gamechanger for the hospitality sector in Killarney and Kerry.”
He also recalled the former CERT training centre that operated at the Torc Great Southern Hotel in the 1970s, noting that this new project would revive that legacy for a new generation of tourism professionals.
The Pretty Polly site, vacant for many years, will now be transformed into a key educational and economic hub for the region once the project proceeds.
