A Killarney singer/songwriter has packed a range of emotions built up from the uncertainty of recent weeks – with a debut performance tonight (Friday) online.
Grace Foley will perform 'Together Apart' at 7pm live on her Facebook and Instagram pages: 'Grace Foley Singer' with a live concert from her living room.
“I found myself wondering how I could express my own feelings on this unprecedented situation,” Grace this week told the Killarney Advertiser.
“I was listing off different songs I could sing when it hit me, why don't I write my own song! Dressed in my finest PJs I sat at the piano and I had basically written the whole thing in less than an hour. It just came out!”
She then contacted her friend Dave McCune at Ventry Recording Studio in Balbriggan to see if he could create a backing for the song.
“Dave created a basic track and I recorded the vocal on my phone. We felt the quality wasn't quite good enough so Dave posted me a voice recorder. I recorded my vocal in my wardrobe, surrounded by boxes and my jeans! I sent the recording to Dave who created the most beautiful track.”
Next, she reached out to her followers, family and friends for help with the video which features photos taken during this time of isolation.
“I created the video in my living room and released the song on my YouTube channel 'Grace Foley Singer' on March 30. The video flew passed one thousand views in the first two days alone which I'm incredibly proud of, especially as it's my first complete solo written song.”
