The popular Scéal Eile café on High St has this week reopened as a take away bakery. Like many other businesses, the café was forced to close on March 16 and Thursday marked the first time it opened in nine months.
It will operate as a take away bakery on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week and next. It will extend its opening days in the run up to Christmas by operating Monday of that week until Christmas Eve (Thursday 24).
The bakery will open between 10am and 4pm each day except Christmas Eve which will have the earlier closing time of 1pm.
Scéal Eile will get an early-morning delivery from Marguerite's Bakery in Newcastle West, in County Limerick, a sister company to the High St eatery.
They will offer a range of Christmas favourites including cakes, plum puddings and mince pies. There is also a full range of Christmas hampers and daily treats for sale over the counter.
“We are taking orders for Christmas cakes, birthday cakes, any sort of celebration cake,” Manager Annette Horgan told the Killarney Advertiser. “It is great to be back to see everyone again.”
Early in the New Year it is hoped to complete a refurbishment of the dining area ahead of a full reopening in the spring.
