Sarah Leahy on fire for the season opener in 2024
The reigning national women's indoor 60m champion, Killarney’s Sarah Leahy, has started the 2024 season with a powerful 7.38 time for the 60m, while competing in the national league in Athlone on Sunday.
With upcoming races in the World Tour in Slovakia and in Barcelona over the coming weeks, the Killarney Valley Athletic Club members's early form indicates another, great season for the Kerry and Irish star athlete.
The 60m and 100m specialist, who has world athletics championships experience already, has eyes set on her own national titles for 2024 and the hope of an Ireland women's 4x100m relay team reaching the Paris Olympics later in the summer.
“Her hope for now, is to build her season gradually, defend her titles and to go even faster in 2024,” said her coach Jer Griffin.
