Residents not ‘Lovin it’ as McDonalds causes traffic problems

By Sean Moriarty
A Kerry County Council traffic warden is to monitor traffic on the lower Park Road following a series of complaints about traffic queueing for the nearby McDonalds restaurant.
At the recent Killarney Municipal District meeting, Cllr Donal Grady called for action to be taken in the area “as entry to homes is being blocked off”.
He was the second councillor to raise concerns about traffic in the area following Marie Moloney's similar motion in September.
“Following concerns raised by members in previous Notices of Motion, the Council has met with Management of McDonalds and have liaised with An Garda Síochána in relation to traffic queuing and illegal parking at times at this location,” a council official told the meeting.
“It is intended to extend and increase the visibility of road markings which would be more appropriate than clearway signs. Kerry County Council Traffic Wardens will monitor and if required, enforce any illegal parking at this location.”
