Stress hasn’t been a bad thing at one local school as pupils used it to make a profitable business!

Fifth and Sixth class pupils from Barraduff National School created a project, entitling it ‘Let's Confess About Stress' and presented it at the Junior Entrepreneur National Showcase Day in Dublin last week.

In the RDS, they showed their product, a workbook consisting of four sections of pupil experiences and pupil designed activities, Gearoid O Súilleabháin, Principal, told the Killarney Advertiser.

“We started the programme in November where each pupil came up with one idea,” he said.

“Then the class was divided into groups, and they each presented a group idea in a Dragon’s Den style process, with an eventual winner a pupil workbook to help children of their age deal with stress and anxiety.”

Once selected, the whole class rowed in behind the project, entitling it ‘Let's Confess About Stress'. The class divided into five groups, namely, marketing, design and production, storytelling, sales and finance.

“We printed 190 copies and have sold all to local schools around Killarney, making a profit of almost €500, which will go towards a new sports kit for the school.”
