Transport issues are falling far short of what is needed for the people of Kerry a public meeting will hear tonight (Monday) in Killarney.

Fianna Fáil General Election candidate Cllr Norma Moriarty is hosting the meeting in Scott’s Hotel at 8pm.

“A lot of concern has been expressed about the merging of Kerry with Cork in terms of organisational and administrative operations,” said Cllr Moriarty.

“Many people feel as if Kerry has become the poor relation and is not getting the same service as before. Given Kerry’s popularity in terms of tourism and visitor numbers, combined with the vast geographical area of the county, the current transport options fall far short of what is needed.”

She says she believes the current bus fleet should be upgraded, as well as creating more capacity at peak times of the year.

“Unfortunately Minister Ross is more concerned with matters outside of his remit and is neglecting the very real transport issues that are being experienced by people in Kerry and right around the country,” added Cllr Moriarty.

“I am hoping that this meeting will give people the opportunity to have their say on the transport problems that they face so that we can begin looking at ways to address these issues.”
