YET again our county has topped the polls for its beautiful beaches. TripAdvisor has published its annual list of Ireland's best beaches, with a new number-one for the first time in four years.

Banna Strand, near Tralee, has been named Ireland's top beach in the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for 2017.

Inchydoney, Co. Cork, which had topped TripAdvisor's best beaches list for three years running and was voted Ireland's Favourite Beach in our Reader Travel Awards 2017, has this year dropped to second place.

Kerry beaches, in fact, are all accounted for in the top six. Derrynane is in third place with Inch Beach in fourth place, Coumeenoole in the sixth spot.
Travellers’ Choice award-winners are determined based on traveller reviews gathered over a 12-month period, TripAdvisor says.
