Plunkett St issues far from over

By Sean Moriarty
Cllr Donal Grady was unable to attend Wednesday’s Killarney Municipal District meeting as he is currently on a surprise family holiday.
He did ask at the previous Council meeting in July if there was an alternative date available for this week’s meeting - but this was overruled by Council colleagues.
However, Grady also has a motion on the same topic before the members that will have to be voted on at the next meeting in November.
He has also been very vocal on the issue of pedestrianising Plunkett St., and was the only councillor who voted against the original plan last year.
Had he been present on Wednesday, he would have voted against the continuation of the plan.
“It will come before the Council again in November and this time it will be voted down,” he told the Killarney Advertiser yesterday (Thursday). “I can see the business people of Killarney taking to the streets protesting about this.”
