Muckross House most popular tourist site in county
Over 500,000 people visited Muckross House in 2020 and 2021 - making it the most popular tourist attraction in the county in that time.
Fáilte Ireland published the results of its Annual Visitors Attractions Survey this week.
The figures are for the combined periods of 2020 and 2021, during the height of the pandemic. Visitor numbers were greatly reduced during this time but the Killarney attraction, which is largely outdoors, proved to be very busy.
Derrynane House and Gardens in South Kerry was the second most visited site, attracting 355,622 in that time frame while Tralee Wetlands had 329,000 people through its doors.
Other busy Killarney attractions included Muckross Traditional Farms which attracted 76,464 people and Ross Castle which saw 5,267 people pass through its doors.
