Major aquaculture conference set for Killarney

An international aquaculture conference will take place in the Brehon Hotel next month.
The Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) organised- conference aims to position Ireland as the centre of excellence for aquatech - technology enabling sustainable seafood farming.
The conference titled “Aquatech – Ireland’s Global Opportunity” is being held in partnership with global aquaculture accelerator, Hatch, and supported by the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund.
It will gather some of the world’s leading experts in aquaculture including Kristen Virega, SVP Global Shrimp efishery, Neil Sims, Founder and CEO, Ocean Era and Jennifer Bushman, Sustainable Aquaculture Strategist and Communicator. BIM CEO, Caroline Bocquel, is also among the key speakers.
According to Richard Donnelly, Bord Iascaigh Mhara’s Development and Innovation director, there are currently 62 aquatech companies operating in Ireland, employing almost 900 people and with a combined turnover of €217 million.
