Luxury cars, jewellery and cash seized by Gardai
A
A FLEET of luxury vehicles including high-end BMW jeeps and BMW and Mercedes cars were seized in Killarney this morning.
The vehicles, along with over €100,000 in cash and valuable jewellery, were seized as Gardai swooped on 11 properties as part of Operation Tarmac.
Some 130 officers searched the properties shortly after 6.15am targeting what they describe as "bogus tradesmen".
It is also understood a number of bank accounts have been frozen arising out of the ongoing investigation.
Members of the Criminal Assets Bureau, the Public Order Unit, the Armed Response Unit and other technical experts were also involved in what gardai describe as one of the biggest-ever operations conducted in Kerry.
The operation was led by Superintendent Flor Murphy of Killarney Gardai. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
