Loreto pupils reach important milestone

It's inevitable that there are changes to the many events and ceremonies this year due to COVID - and it meant a very different ceremony this week in one local school.
On Monday, pupils from Second Class in Scoil Bhríde Loreto National School were the first ever class to make their First Confession in the school hall. Restrictions meant that they could not go to the church for their very special occasion and also unfortunately couldn't be joined by close family.
Fr Kieran O'Brien led the socially distanced service in the school hall for the entire class.
"Parents are usually present at the service but unfortunately due to current restrictions, this was not possible this year," principal Brian O'Sullivan told the Killarney Advertiser. "We are very lucky to have a large hall which can be used for services such as this and still allow for social distancing. A huge thanks to Fr Kieran and class teacher Pádraig O’Sullivan for making this possible."
