Local company offers GPs virtual consultations with patients

One Killarney GP is offering her virtual telehealth platform free to allow GPs connect with patients online via computer or smartphone.
MyClinic365, founded by an Killarney GP, Dr Laura Malone, announced that they will donate their telemedicine platform for free to GPs for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency.
The platform enables doctors to schedule, manage and collect payments for remote tele-consultations with patients for either COVID-19 or non-COVID-19 health issues.
All the patient needs is either a smartphone or a PC and an internet connection.
Earlier this week, Dr Malone switched patient appointments at her own practice on East Avenue Road, to remote telehealth appointments to minimise the risk of person-to-person transmission.
“We have seen an immediate benefit at our practice,” she told the Killarney Advertiser. “We thought donating the use of this telehealth platform for free for the duration of the emergency is the least we can do in the fight against COVID-19.”
The HSE has now agreed payments with GPs for remote consultations, she added.
“Each practice can typically be up and running in less than 30 minutes. No special software or set–up is required beyond a PC and a decent internet connection. Patient confidentiality is securely protected as no personal data is stored on the system and it is fully GDPR compliant.”
