By Sean Moriarty
The Killarney London Reunion will celebrate its 50thanniversary this November with a gala function in the famed Crown Hotel in Cricklewood.
The Killarney Association London was formed in 1969 by local priest Tom Looney, who was the parish priest in Wembley at the time, Cllr Donal Grady and the late Cllr Michael Courtney. Serving as a home away from home for Killarney exiles, it has gone from strength to strength over the last half century.
The annual reunion is one of the social highlights of the year for Kerry people living in London. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, November 16.
Each year the Killarney-London Committee select a ‘Person of the Year’ – and details of this year’s recipient will be announced in due course.
The presentation will be made at the reception which will be attended by Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Niall Kelleher, and Cllr Donal Grady, Chairman of the Killarney-London Reunion committee.
Cllr Grady has been involved with the organisation for the past 50 years and he has worked tirelessly to ensure it continues to prosper and that strong bonds are maintained.
The Killarney Advertiser is one of the main sponsors of the Killarney London Reunion.
