Killarney is a moving car park

Killarney is a moving car park according to one elected councillor.
Cllr Donal Grady was responding to a motion put forward by council colleague Maura Healy-Rae at the July Killarney Municipal District Meeting.
She asked the council executive to address the constant traffic gridlock on the Mission Road.
Several ideas were floated included the potential to put an additional entrance to the Beech Road car park to take traffic away from the lower end of Mission Road.
Council officials said that several new road schemes, including the proposed Farranfore to Killarney bypass and the Lewis Road junction revamp would all take traffic from Mission Road..
“This can’t be allowed to go on. We can’t wait for the bypass or any link road. It’s just ridiculous at this point, Cllr Healy-Rae told the meeting.
The meeting heard how motorists could experience delays of up to 30 minutes along Mission Road during peak times.
“Killarney is known as a moving car park and we’re going to stay that was a for a long time,” warned Cllr Grady.
