KILLARNEY CREDIT UNION has begun a membership drive to encourage the many different nationalities living in its common bond to become a member of the credit union. Its campaign involves translating their membership literature into different languages and to make their website function in different languages.

Helen Courtney Power, business development officer with Killarney Credit Union, said: “According to the latest census data, we have a diverse range of nationalities living in South Kerry and we are reaching out to them to become part of the credit union community. Our ambition to be fully inclusive of all nationalities living here and this is in line with the ethos of ‘open and non-discrimination’ membership of the credit union.”

The credit union offers a wide range of services to members including the savings, loans, bill payment, insurance and foreign exchange. It also offers an eservice facility to transfer funds electronically into a credit union account. Membership is open to anyone living or working in the common bond of Killarney Credit Union.

Helen added “We are starting our inclusion strategy with the large Polish community in South Kerry, and we would encourage them to call in with their photo and address ID and join the existing 25,000 members already in the credit union.”
