Kerry Mountain Rescue Team assists community during snowstorm
Kerry Mountain Rescue Team has actively assisted the community during the recent snowstorm.
In addition to their usual mountain rescue duties, the team has been using their vehicles to help members of the public who were stranded or in difficulty on roads around the county.
They also played a crucial role in transporting healthcare workers to hospitals and medical facilities.
Meanwhile, the team has warned about the avalanche risk in the MacGillycuddy Reeks.
Significant snow accumulations have occurred on all slopes, and the avalanche hazard is likely to be high in certain areas until thaw-freeze cycles consolidate the snowpack.
The team said that the primary danger currently lies in the approaches to all trailheads, where lying snow and ice are creating extremely hazardous driving conditions.
Kerry Mountain Rescue Team continues to monitor the situation.
