Jordan claims bronze
K
Killarney youngster Jordan Lee is the toast of the town after claiming bronze at the European Para Athletic Championships in Berlin. The talented 18-year-old, who only began practicing the sport in 2017, finished third in the T47 high jump yesterday. Lee's bronze adds to Ireland’s haul of four golds, won by Greta Streimikyte, Noelle Lenihan, Orla Barry and Jason Smyth, and Orla Comerford's bronze.
He went clear on his first attempt of 1.75m but he was just unable to match Spaniard Daniel Perez’s effort of 1.78m in his subsequent efforts. Alexandre Dipoko-Ewane of France won gold with a championship record effort of 1.89m.
Jordan, who is coached by decorated athlete Tomás Griffin at Killarney Valley AC, was born with just one full arm but that hasn’t stopped him from achieving his sporting goals.
