Ian to benefit from All-Ireland GAA Golf Challenge
B
Brave Killarney teenager Ian O’Connell has thanked organisers of the All-Ireland GAA Golf Challenge for selecting him as the 2018 beneficiary of the innovative grassroots fundraiser.
Club teams from all over the country meet every year between the All-Ireland hurling and football finals for a two-day tournament in aid of a worthy cause. Teams of four cost €800 and entry is open to all members of the GAA. This year’s competition will take place in Monaghan.
16-year-old Ian, a member of Spa GAA club, was seriously injured when he fell from his bike last summer. He is currently paralysed from the shoulders down and organisers say they have already made a commitment to Ian’s family to provide them with a state-of-the-art wheelchair accessible car.
“I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, thanks so much to everyone involved in the All-Ireland GAA Golf Challenge. You have no idea how much this means to me.”
If you would like to make a donation, offer a prize for auction on the night, or get in touch with the organisers, you can find out more at the All-Ireland GAA Golf Challenge Facebook page, visit www.gaagolf.com or follow Twitter updates @GolfGAA.
