Hospital staff to dance for charity
T
The Sports and Social Club of University Hospital Kerry are hosting a Sickly Come Dancing event on February 23 in Ballygarry House Hotel, Tralee. 24 brave hospital staff members from all different disciplines have volunteered to dance while a supporting committee has also been put in place. The event will be in aid of the Chemotherapy Day Unit at the hospital.
The Chemotherapy Day Unit is where chemotherapy is administered to oncology patients. Due to increasing demand for oncology services in Kerry, the current unit’s facilities are no longer adequate. The hospital is in the process of looking to extend the unit in order to provide a purpose-built facility where patients can be treated with compassion, respect and dignity at all stages of the treatment process. The expansion of the current chemotherapy day unit is essential in order to address the growing demand for the service.
We all have family members, friends or neighbours who have had to attend the Chemotherapy Day Unit in UHK. Any members of the public who would like to donate can do so on the GoFundMe page: www.gofundme.com/sports-and-social-club-uhk.
Every donation goes directly to the Chemotherapy Day Unit fund.
