High drama in Farranfore as stabbing incident unfolds
A major emergency response was triggered in Farranfore on Wednesday evening following reports of a stabbing incident involving a male victim in a passing car.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were deployed to the scene at around 5pm.
The helicopter landed in a field to the rear of the Centra store in the village.
A road ambulance was also deployed, but the injured man was eventually transported to University Hospital Kerry by private car.
The incident led to questions from some locals about the scale and cost of the emergency response, especially given the fact that the victim did not use the air or road ambulance services.
There are unconfirmed reports that another related incident occurred in Killarney around the same time.
It is believed that the two incidents are linked, involving the same individuals, and that the stabbing incident may have taken place earlier and the Faranfore drama unfolded when the injured party was being transported to Tralee Hospital.
Gardaí have not issued an official statement at the time of writing.
