Green light for Milltown Respite Care Centre

Newly elected TD for Kerry, Fianna Fáil’s Michael Cahill has welcomed Kerry County Council’s granting of Planning Permission for a Respite Care Centre in Milltown by An Bórd Pleanála.
“This is fantastic news for Milltown and for all of Kerry in general, as further respite beds are urgently required in every corner of our county. This is a godsend and will relieve pressure on other centres and allow families to have loved ones closer to home,” said Deputy Cahill.
“This is an investment of €9m in Milltown, which will outside of the construction of the facility, deliver up to 60 permanent jobs, with a 46 bedroom residential respite care centre, and an assisted living community of 12 two-bedroom houses for older people. It is a ‘win win’ project for potential patients and their families and also for all those who will be employed there. It will ease pressure on some family members who presently have to travel significant distances to visit their loved ones. For these, it may mean more regular time together.”
"This development will also include 113 car parking spaces for residents and visitors, public outdoor amenity areas, public reception areas, treatment activity rooms, dining and lounge rooms, resident day and space areas, a hairdressing salon, staff facilities and ancillary support rooms."
