Getting behind the ball
B
BRIGHT and early on Saturday morning, the team from Daly’s SuperValu exchanged the supermarket aisles for the football pitch s they caught up with local GAA clubs to see at first hand the huge work being done at grassroots level.
Representatives from Daly’s SuperValu attended training sessions at Killarney Legion GAA Club at Direen and Dr Crokes GAA Club at Lewis Road to present 50 footballs to the juvenile teams. “This is part of SuperValu's #Behindtheball GAA campaign which aims to encourage kids as young as six to play football and exercise regularly,” said Denis Tucker, duty manager, Daly’s Supervalu.
Eight other local GAA teams will also receive the set of footballs; Kilcummin, Rathmore, Fossa, Glenflesk, Spa, Gneeveguilla, Firies and Beaufort. “The campaign is all about inspiring and supporting the future stars of all GAA clubs,” said Denis. “All of us from Daly’s SuperValu were impressed by the great work been done by all the clubs coaches and volunteers who look after the youngsters so well.”
