Garda warning about mobile phone scam

G
GARDAÍ in Kerry and the communications regulator, ComReg, have warned of a mobile phone scam which involves a muffled call from an apparently distressed woman looking for help.
The public has been urged to be aware of receiving calls from 252 44 number. The call is followed by a missed call message. If you call this number back, you will be charged. “It is a scam and will clear your credit if you ring it back,” said a spokesperson.
There is concern in particular that people may be more inclined to call back unfamiliar numbers at this time seeing as many will have friends and relatives attending Euro 2016 in France.
