Garda warning following suspicious visits to homes in Kilcummin area

KILLARNEY GARDAÍ have received reports of suspicious visits by a man to residences in Kilcummin. Yesterday, Wednesday, January 11, a male called to three homes in the area, claiming to be from the Department of Social Protection. “This male stated that persons over 70 years could avail of free television and receive a €33 electricity allowance,” said Sergeant Dermot O’Connell of Killarney Garda Station.
The Department of Social Protection has confirmed to Killarney Gardaí that no representative from the Department of Social Protection called to homes in the Killarney area. “Killarney gardaí wish to advise all persons who receive unsolicited calls to contact Killarney Garda station immediately as Killarney gardaí wish to identify and speak to this male,” added Sergeant O’Connell.
