Funding secured for design phase of bypass road
The Killarney bypass project, part of the Cork-Kerry Economic Corridor, has secured funding to advance to phase three of the design process.
Kerry County Council’s National Roads Office, in partnership with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), is leading the effort.
This phase will involve technical work and surveys at key locations to collect design and environmental data. The project team will liaise with landowners to provide notice of surveys and address any concerns.
Minister of State Michael Healy Rae and Deputy Danny Healy Rae played a role in securing the funding. Local councillors Maura Healy-Rae and Jackie Healy-Rae, representing the Killarney and Castleisland districts, will monitor the project’s progression.
The bypass is expected to improve connectivity between Cork and Kerry while easing traffic congestion in the region.
