Friends and community rally to help Maureen

LIFE changed beyond recognition for popular Headford lady Maureen Kelliher when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in February of last year.
But her friends and the greater community promptly joined forces to come to her aid, forming the Friends of Maureen Kelliher to help support Maureen. “We want to raise funds to cover unforeseen costs and to help take the pressure off,” said Maureen’s friend Ann Courtney.
Maureen, who has always been an active member of the community, is unable walk without any support and uses a walking aid to go about her everyday life. “What most would take for granted like simply being able to sit in a car or do the shopping, is a struggle Maureen strives to overcome,” said Ann.
Eager to start 2017 on a positive note, Maureen paid tribute to her friends, family and community for their support, as well as the community, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Health Service Executive.
The mum of four is a founding member of Glenflesk Ladies GAA and is also a long-time member of Killarney Celtic FC as well as a supporter of Killarney Athletic FC.
