I
IN WHAT is welcome news for shoppers who are planning their sprees in the run-up to the festive season, Kerry County Council has announced that car parking will be free for the month of December in the High Street and Lewis Road car parks in Killarney.
Parking will be free up to 11am for the month of December in the following car parks: New Street Car Park (lower section only), Glebe Car Park; and Fair Hill Car Park
The Cathaoirleach of the Killarney Municipal District, Cllr Brendan Cronin, said the provision of free parking annually is a gesture to local retailers and people visiting town to do their Christmas shopping.
“This is an important gesture by the local authority to encourage people into the town during the Christmas period and I would urge people to shop local this Christmas,” he said.
“Killarney is always a special place to be at Christmas time and the provision of free parking at particular times during this period gives people a chance to enjoy the atmosphere and to shop locally,” he added.
