Franciscan Friary hosts Triduum for St Padre Pio
The Franciscan Friary in Killarney recently hosted a successful Triduum in honour of St Padre Pio, the Patron Saint of healing.
The event was led by Fr Eamonn O'Driscoll OFM, a popular figure in the community.
The Triduum, a three-day preparation for the Feast of St Padre Pio, took place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
The feast day itself, September 23, marks the saint's memorial day and the anniversary of his entrance to heaven.
This was the third year that the Friary has held a celebration for St Padre Pio, and organisers were pleased with the turnout and the devotion shown by attendees.
A first class relic - a bandage with St Padre Pio's blood - was on display during the two daily Masses held over the three days.
Br Pat Lynch of the Franciscan Friary expressed hope that the Triduum would become an annual event.
"It was very well attended, and it's lovely to see the devotion to Padre Pio. We were very happy with it,” he said.
