Fossa Climate Action Group to host waterways walk

Fossa Climate Action Group will host a walk to the waterways of Killarney this Saturday, , at 11:00 am.

The walk will be led by Blathnaid O'Loughlin, the Community Water Officer for Kerry County Council's Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO).
Participants will learn about the health of natural streams in Fossa. The event will include a Citizen Science demonstration to assess water health and a discussion on individual and community actions to protect and improve local water quality.
Numbers for the walk are limited to 20 people.

Aghadoe Heights Hotel and Spa has announced the appointment of Lorna Jankovic as Spa Manager.

The move marks a significant step in the hotel’s continued investment in luxury wellness as it prepares to unveil new innovations at its award-winning facility.

Jankovic brings extensive experience from senior roles in luxury hotels and destination spas across Ireland and Europe.

Her career includes positions at The Shelbourne in Dublin, Corinthia Hotels International in the UK, Malta, and Portugal, as well as experience with wellness cruiseliner Steiner Transocean.
“Our aim is to offer something that feels like a true reset,” said Jankovic. “We want guests to step away from constant stimulation and reconnect through touch, presence and thoughtful care. It’s about creating space for intentional rest and holistic luxury.”

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the spa, with several developments set to be announced in the coming months.

These include the introduction of new treatments, the expansion of bespoke therapies, and updated holistic wellness programming.

Following the recent success of Maryann Heidtke with ‘The Shoemaker’, Killarney Camera Club has featured the runner-up in the Novice Environmental Portrait category.

Anne Kelly secured the second-place spot with a striking photograph of a skilled craftsman repairing spectacles.

Captured from the other side of a window, the image immediately draws the viewer in and beautifully portrays the subject at work.

At first glance, the photograph has an almost old-fashioned appearance. However, a closer look reveals an intriguing collection of glasses, with modern frames displayed alongside vintage and costume eyewear.

The image is a wonderful example of environmental portraiture, showing the craftsman surrounded by his tools and the finished pieces of his trade.
