Fly fishing charity day nets €11k for Motor Neurone charity
An Annual Charity Fly Fishing competition has netted a whopping €11,265 for Kerry Friends of Motor Neurone
Members and friends of Lough Lein Anglers’ Association, Killarney, one of the longest established fishing clubs in Ireland, held the 36th annual charity open fly fishing competition known as ‘The Charity’ on Sunday on Lough Lein, the Lower Lake in Killarney National Park.
This year's beneficiaries are Kerry Friends of Motor Neurone - a most deserving charity. A total of €11265 was raised on Sunday. The charity event is always the most popular event on the fly fishing calendar in Ireland and is spearheaded by Timo O’Sullivan, Pat Curran, Padraig Coghlan, Corrie O’Flaherty, Chairman.
To date the anglers have raised in excess of €300,000 for deserving charities in Kerry and Cork. The main sponsor of the event is Lee Strand Co-op, Tralee.
