Everest summiteer Frank McCarthy inspires local business community

Fresh from standing on the roof of the world, Fossa mountaineer Frank McCarthy was the guest of honour at a recent BNI Kerry meeting at the Great Southern Killarney, where he shared the remarkable story behind his successful ascent of Mount Everest.

Frank now joins an elite group, becoming one of just 72 Irish people to successfully summit Mount Everest, one of only three from County Kerry, and the youngest Kerryman ever to reach the top. His achievement represents years of preparation, unwavering commitment, and extraordinary physical and mental resilience.
Addressing local business owners and visitors at the weekly networking event, Frank provided a captivating insight into his months of intense training, the extreme physical conditions on the mountain, and the determination required to complete the climb.
Beyond the mountaineering feat itself, Frank drew parallels between extreme sports and entrepreneurship, speaking on discipline, preparation, teamwork, calculated risk, and staying focused when pursuing ambitious goals.
The morning also marked a double celebration, as host venue The Great Southern Killarney recently achieved prestigious five-star status.
