Eabha’s new look will help sick children
KINDNESS: Seven-year-old Eabha McCarthy cut 14 inches off her hair to donate to charity.

One little seven-year-old looks a lot different these days as she opted for the chop – cutting 14 inches from her long locks.
Kilcummin’s Eabha McCarthy headed to hairdresser Triona O’Shea in Park Road after being inspired by a similar story in the Killarney Advertiser late last year.
Her hair has since been sent to the Rapunzel Foundation which makes wigs for sick children.
Eabha’s parents Dale McCarthy and Ciara Moynihan said they are so proud of her act of kindness.
“It was all her own idea,” Dale told the Killarney Advertiser. “We’re very proud of her. Her hair was very long, and when she saw a girl donate her hair in the Killarney Advertiser before Christmas, she said she also wanted to help the sick children.”
The First Class pupil who attends Anabla National School has since received some admiring looks at school.
“She was very excited to cut it. She took the plaits into school and they all said her shorter hair suits her. She’s now going to try and grow it again for her communion next year.”
