Officials from Killarney Municipal District are to engage with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in an effort to create a dog-walking park in Killarney.
Cllr Brendan Cronin put forward a motion to build such a facility in town at Wednesday’s Killarney Municipal District meeting.
He told the meeting that he had seen a similar successful project in Lucan, County Dublin.
A Council official said that is does not have suitable land in its own ownership.
“This is a very meritorious project and the Council has examined its land bank in the town but has not been able to identify a suitable site in its ownership. A funding source would also have to be identified for the capital investment and the operating costs. The Municipal District will liaise with the National Parks and Wildlife Services in relation to any potential suitable area they may have in their ownership,” a Council official said.
