Council sets up emergency phone number following code orange rainfall warning for Kerry

FLOODING precautions are being taken in areas around the county and Kerry County Council has set up an emergency number as rain continues to batter Kerry. Met Éireann has issued a Code Orange rainfall warning for Kerry which is valid until 6pm tomorrow, Tuesday. In the event of emergencies, members of the public can call the council number, 066-7183588, which operates out of hours also.
There is very heavy rainfall expected in the county this evening and especially overnight tonight with up to 80mm expected in many places. Up to 100mm is expected on higher ground, particularly in coastal areas.
Kerry County Council expects the west of the county and the Dingle and Iveragh peninsulas will be worst affected. Sandbags are being provided in Dingle, Caherciveen, Sneem and Kenmare. The situation is being closely monitored by council staff on the ground. Updates will be provided on the council’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
