Considerable delays to UHK services following cyber attack

By Michelle Crean
There are considerable delays to services at University Hospital Kerry (UHK) following Friday’s massive cyber attack on the HSE’s systems.
Services impacted include the Emergency Department (ED) and the hospital’s ability to deliver normal outpatient services.
The HSE said in a statement that the “challenging situation is ongoing”.
“As a result management at the UHK wish to advise the public that all Routine Outpatient Appointments, including Radiology and Cardiology, have been cancelled other than for patients who have received direct contact from the hospital”, they said in a statement.
Arrangements in relation to the Maternity Department at UHK from today (Monday) include:
- All high risk pregnancies are advised to attend as normal
- All outreach clinics patients at Centrepoint, Listowel, Killarney, are also advised to attend as normal
- Any emergencies or women with concerns should attend the maternity service as normal
- Routine anatomy scans will be deferred and rescheduled in the near future
The 24 hour contact number for maternity patients with any concerns is: 066 7184324
Management at UHK have said they would like to remind the public that the Emergency Department is for emergency services only and that further status updates will be issued in due course.
